Birthday Cards

We love creating cards for our family and friends. Crafting cards has always been something that we enjoy doing because we think it add a special little touch for the person for a few reasons:
1) Its always really nice to get a handmade card instead of just a store bought card
2) you can add your own personality/ flare . . . or the recipient  personality & flair to the card! and
3) You'll stand out! Giving our personalized cards always makes a person stand out since its not a common occurance

What are your reasons?

Recently we decided that we needed to have a stockpile of cards because we don't always have the time to make cards since we work full time. Card making for us gets time consuming because we love to incorporate our own personal jokes and such. This time we decided to use carious card stock embellishments to make simple cards for last minute situations.

Mickey Mouse

This is a long over due blog that I've been wanting to showcase.  My godson turned ONE back in March and I was the honorary party planner.  He loves Mickey Mouse and that was his birthday theme.  So I was more than happy to make him his banner.   It turned out really cute!  Not only that, but I also made "sour cream" containers with Mickey Mouse paper as his party favors.  They were filled with delicious candies!  What kids and adults don't love candies at a birthday party, right?  All in all, these two items where my favorite DIY for this birthday party.

Shell & Rope Necklace

So being from "The Beach" it is only fitting that when someone graduates, we will give something beachy. None of that boring lei flower mumbo jumbo! I use to work at a local high school that was heavily populated with Pacific Islanders and Polynesians. To me, their handmade crafts are absolutely gorgeous! Being from the beach, why wouldn't I love such things? Look at the earthy colors and materials. All around natural! I LOVE IT!

One day towards graduation, I was given the opportunity to sit in and watch how they made a rope and shell necklace to give out to the graduating seniors that were in their program.

What i LOVE best about this is the versatility in the necklace/ lei. There are so much more than just to give out during a graduation ceremony. A beach theme party instead of those plastic flower leis (and it can double as a party favor), a birthday party, bridal shower, ANYTHING! Also, I thought about using this as a border and to hang tiki charm letters from the rope. I just haven't been given an opportunity to do so.

I recently made this for a graduation because like I said before, I live near the beach., lets do a beach theme!

The natural shell and rope color really looks great against the bright, vibrant colors of the flowers. Also, it wont die or wilt! So this necklace/ lei can be kept as a wonderful graduation memory!
